What Is a Ductless Mini-Split?
A ductless mini-split is an extremely efficient cooling and heating system for any room in your home. Like a heat pump, instead of burning fuel, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air to cool / heat, using refrigerant, a condenser, and electricity only.
A mini-split consists of an outdoor unit (heat pump condenser) and one or more indoor units in the room(s) being cooled or heated. The units are connected by pipes (lines) carrying refrigerant (coolant). In summer, the refrigerant absorbs indoor heat and releases it outside. In winter, the opposite occurs, warming your indoor space.
